Whether for sample division, or for purity tests or determination of germination conditions, RUMED® germination devices are professional alternatives to refrigerated incubators, when reproducibility of the process is important.
They are available with the Rodewald or Jacobsen processes;
The Rodewald process is distinguished by low humidity (which is adjustable) which tends to create less mold growth. This process is particularly suitable for vegetable seeds and forest seeds. The seeds are placed on filter paper on the sand.
The Jacobsen germinator is mainly made up of a germination plate, which is heated by a water bath installed underneath. The bain-marie temperature control is automatic.
The germination spirals, which are equipped with a paper wick and a paper substrate, are placed on the germination plate. Passing through the slots in the germination plate, the wick enters the water bath below, thus transmitting the necessary humidity and temperature to the paper substrate. To achieve the air humidity, which is required for germination, the filter paper discs will be covered with a transparent germination dome. The small hole in this dome ensures the supply of fresh air with minimal evaporation.
With the active cooling configuration, day/night variation testing or temperature profiles of all types are possible.
Effective area for 120 to 180 samples
